in my opinion, expectation is inherent to soul food.

i want soul food to taste like how i am striving to feel, grateful. when i experience soul food, i want to go into a spot, sit back, throw my arm around a chair, and chill all the way out. eating, observing, tapping my foot, allowing myself to feel the loss of what life was, while learning to trust that new memories do not overwrite the ones i never want to let go.

in my opinion, good soul food is hard to come by because the price is one that most can not afford, humility. it requires discipline, patience, participation, in a period of time that feels careless, sensitive, and immature.

in my opinion, the exchange, is priceless.

you will never forget good soul food with someone you love.

you certainly will never forget hospitality so intentional that it begins to feel exactly like what you are striving for.
